I do not prefer to listen to music while working. Sadly, I now have three substantial noise sources in my current office. (Two loud co-workers and a conference table.) Even wearing ear plugs does not stop the distractions. After I killed the third set of $5 ear buds by accidently yanking the cord I started searching for a wireless solution. Since my 15 year old Plantronics wired phone headset was starting to get a bit crackly I decided to try and replace it at the same time.

It was surprising difficult to find a unit that could combine music from my PC and conference calls from my desk phone. Note: PC gamer headsets are another option, though it appears they need a collection of adaptors. There are good options from Logitech and Sony, however, they are not designed to interface desk phones and PC's. Ad copy for the Plantronics Savi 720 appears to meet my needs and is designed to interface with the phone and PC, not a collection of random game consoles.

The new toy arrived last Thursday and I was conference calling on it by 7:00 AM on Friday.

Conference calling: Seems to be good quality mic arrangement, no one can tell I am using a wireless device. Voice quality on my end is nice and clear too. Long term comfort is good for at least a two hour conference call. I have not pushed the enevelope on battery charge in my first week of ownership. I like being able to walk around the wall to a water cooler while still on a call.

Music streaming: Volume and clarity is good. While I am far from an audiophile, the lack of stereo is surprisingly evident. These provide reasonable sound quality. The commonly available monaural units simply do not help me to screen out the distractions. If you are even a borderline audio-geek you will not like the music quality.

Bluetooth connection with my cell phone was somewhat of a bonus. It seems to work okay for voice, but I have not been able to stream music from the phone yet. That could be a function of my antique cell phone.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the functionality, though I think the price is a bit steep and would gladly have paid less for a unit that did have have Bluetooth. I am plesed with functionality and will definitely be keeping them.

4Pretty Happy

I've been using this headset for about 6 weeks right now. To me it was important to be able to listen to the computer audio and connect to my AdTran VOIP phone.

Pros:
* Great Distance / Range - I can go 150 feet from my office through walls in my building with no issue.
* Computer + Phone Audio at the same time
* Long Battery Life - lasts all day no issue, won't make it two, but recharge is fast... just have to remember to put it back on the cradle every night.

Cons:
* Software for the computer is really designed for VOIP soft-phones. Probably a plus for most people, but honestly I just want a computer head phone so I can listen to music or watch videos, etc. And that all works, but no features on the headset are really designed around that usage.
* Turning on audio on more than one device is not intuitive, you must press and hold down both devices that you want to have audio from at the same time and wait until the lights indicators for both turn on.
* Audio sources stream together / no ability to not have computer audio transmitted over the phone - I previously had a wired plantronics headset which allowed me to listen to computer audio and have a phone conversation at the same time without having the computer audio transmitted over the phone. This is particularly annoying when my outlook beeps or some other computer sound happens when I am in a phone call. I have gotten used to muting my computer when I have a call, but it's very annoying to not be able to listen to computer audio without having everyone else on my call hear it as well.

3Phone = Awesome, Music = Pitiful (Update with partial fix!)
By Paul Lemke
As other's have said the headset works really well as a wireless headset for phone calls and Bluetooth calls. It's comfortable enough for a couple hour phone call.

The USB computer audio is terrible. It seems fine for skype calls but anything that has a music involved it's just terrible.

EDIT: So after a few days of talking with Plantronics support there are a few things that can help alleviate the music suckiness. This still doesn't turn on stereo sounds, but the quality is much better.
1. Install the Plantronics Spokes software.
2. Once that software is installed, update the device firmware. This fixed an issue with voice over bluetooth sounding like I was talking through a cheese grater.
3. Once the firmware is updated, go into the Plantronics control panel and update a few settings: Click "Device Settings", change Range to "Low", and set Audio bandwidth to "Wideband" for both desk and PC. Your mileage may varry.
